Center of the Universe Syndrome
I have been feeling impatient lately. I’m tired of snow, getting burned in the shower, substitute teaching, not being able to run, and waiting on potential jobs. Even worse, I’ve been letting it get to me and I’ve kind of been in a funk. After he went to the priesthood session of General Conference, Noel said he’d gotten a lot out of Pres. Uchtdorf’s talk on patience. I figured it might be good for me to hear and so I listened to it this morning. I’d highly recommend it (click on the link above>Priesthood Session>President Dieter F. Uchtdorf). Here are some highlights:
- Patience, the ability to put our desires on hold for a time, is a virtue.
- If we are ever to learn to reach our potential, we must learn to wait.
- Patience is not passive resignation nor failing to act because of our fears. Patience means active waiting and endurance . . . even when the desires of our heart are delayed.
- The promises of the Lord if perhaps not always swift are always certain.
The other day I was looking up scriptures in the Topical Guide on patience and when I turned to each verse I found 98% of them had already been underlined or commented on. The thought came to me, “You already know this, you just need to remember it.” Funny how that works.

You look so great but it must be getting close and feeling like it is taking too long, after seeing our friend Colleen’s grand baby, I’m getting excited to see Cooper. it amazes me that you ran and biked for so long, you are a trooper, love Brenda
Isn’t it funny how waiting for something, amplifies the result. If you get it right away, it is good but you move on without recognizing how significant it is. If it takes awhile, you ponder it, reassess your needs and wants, and then appreciate it much more when you get it. The pondering and reassessing is frustrating, but amplifying as to your recognition of how significant the something you are waiting for is. So, as backwards as it seems, the waiting may, and usually does, save you time in comprehending the something you are waiting for. So in conclusion, come on Cooper.
