Filter Out the Static

Filter Out the Static

My freshmen year of college my roommate quit two weeks into the semester. She packed up all her stuff and left me with my own room. I barely even knew her, but after sharing a room for 15 years the silence almost killed me. Personality tests always peg me as an extrovert, not because I’m the most outgoing person ever, but because I’m the kind of girl that prefers companionship when making a trip to the restroom. Over the years I’ve often filled the gaps between social interactions with noise to help me feel less alone. Even though the noise is often uplifting in one way or another, I’m learning how important it is to spend quiet time wandering through my own thoughts. Here’s a Mormon Message that I think explains it better than I can.
