Work Hard, Play Hard

Work Hard, Play Hard

Last week we were lucky to have a visit from my parents and my brothers. Unfortunately for them, it wasn’t much of a vacation because we had a long list of projects for them to help us with. Still, we managed to squeeze in some fun celebrating my Dad’s birthday (Happy 50th!) and showing them some of the local sites they missed out on the last time they visited Colorado. In less than a week we managed to drive on the highest paved road in North America, “climb” a 14-er, light up one closet, eat at a delicious Italian restaurant, shop at a giant outlet mall, dig a giant stump out of our yard, check out the historic Boettcher Mansion (at least the outside),  prune the dead limbs out of our trees, and walk around historic downtown Denver.

    1. Excellent question. The highest paved road in N America goes to the top of Mt Evans, so you can drive almost all the way to the top. You only have to walk like 1/4 of a mile to the Summit. In our defense though, we were going to do a harder one, but the road was closed 🙂

  1. Sounds great! What is a 14-er? I’ve been wanting to tell you how much I like the Flips so far. The night diapers we got several months ago to replace what we had been using before have been leaking almost every night! It was driving me crazy!!! But the Flips have done the job, and I think they are even less bulky.

    1. A 14er is a peak or mountain that is 14,000 ft or higher above sea level (taller than any of the peaks and mountains you guys have in UT) – they’re a big deal around these parts.
