January 2018

January 2018

January was a fairly quiet month for us as we got back into a school and work groove.

At the beginning of the month, we fit in a snowshoeing trip. It’s been a dry winter, so we had to drive to Rocky Mountain National Park to find an area with enough snow.

It was a gorgeous, cold day.

It had been two years since we’d taken the kids snowshoeing. The last time we went, the kids were crying before we left the parking lot. This time, they handled 3.5 miles with minimal whining which was made more impressive by some of the blowing snow we ran into.

Ellen had her big Kindergarten field trip – a trip to the Stock Show. I was able to chaperone and got to hang out with her and her 6th grade buddy (who also happens to be our neighbor).

The kindergartners had a lot of fun checking out all the animals. (Livestock is a little rare in our suburban life.) It was also a really warm day as you can see by the shorts and t-shirts.

Both of the kids also started a one day a week after school program. Ellen is doing a session on the Tumble Bus and Cooper is doing a science program called NASA Academy. It’s been nice for Cooper to do something that’s just for fun and not something he needs to do (like speech or swim lessons).
