We got home from Spring Break around midnight on the 3rd of April and hit the ground running. The next day, the kids had school and started swim lessons. Noel and I also each had to work. (Granted, I only had to work for an hour, but I wasn’t a very peppy aerobics instructor that day.) That pretty much set the tone for April – nothing too notable for the most part, but just very busy. I was picking up a lot of sub jobs at the Rec Center (and also started teaching a new class) and going to lots of meetings ranging from the Healthy School Committee (one of the venues we’re trying to use to push our recess agenda) to book club. Noel was gone for the last 1/3 of April for work which was hard for all of us – most notably me. I’m pretty sure the kids were tardy to school 1/3 of the month as well. When Noel is gone, it isn’t so much the doing everything myself that’s hard, it’s the lonely evenings. Still, in the midst of all the madness, we managed to have some fun. Check out the pics for more details.
There was a big sidewalk replacement project in the neighborhood. It made all modes of transportation difficult.
Our passports arrived! None of us have traveled outside the US (with the exception of Tijuana). This should lower the barrier for the future.
Ellen has been working on her bike riding skills. At first she wasn’t good enough for me to ride my bike too and I often found myself carrying a bunch of weird stuff she’d smuggled with her while running along side her.
I took over the time slot of a class that hadn’t been very successful. I was very nervous mine wouldn’t be either, but it’s grown every week.
My parents came to visit over their spring break. We were kind of unexciting hosts. I think going to the park was the highlight.
On Earth Day we went to a local open space park. The kids are getting to be fast hikers. We had to keep telling them to wait for us.
Afterwards, we let them play in the stream.
Spring began to show itself.
The tulips were blooming and so were the trees.
The kids enjoyed their swim lessons. Cooper is now tall enough to go down the slide by himself.

The kids got a day off school while the teachers protested. We went on a hike. Despite there being no chance of precipitation in the forecast it snowed.
The house ruins at the end of our hike.
How Cooper feels about the kids at church recognizing his upcoming birthday.
In between work trips, Noel got to spend time with his sister, Danielle.
And her dog, Bassie.
They spent a day sightseeing in NYC.
And generally made me jealous.
