Sugar and Spice

Sugar and Spice

If you’ve ever been to a children’s department or store you’ve probably noticed this, but the little girl’s section is always bigger. Even in stores where one side is devoted to little girls and one side is devoted to little boys the selection isn’t equal. You’ll find that the seemingly equal division is an optical illusion and the girl’s side really takes up more of the store. As a parent of a little boy, I find this frustrating and discriminatory….

Cutest Baby Ever?

Cutest Baby Ever?

Yesterday we were at a children’s clothing store where the clerks were gushing over Cooper and how cute he is. (I find it necessary to note that they don’t get paid on commission.) One of the girls even said, “I see a lot of babies, so when I tell you that you have a cute baby, I mean it.” I felt myself puffing up with pride, while Cooper flirtatiously flashed big grins.  When they told me I should enter Cooper…

Bigger

Bigger

Even though Cooper was born a month early and his medical records have him down as a “preemie,” he’s never been one to me. He wasn’t premature; he came when he was ready and there wasn’t a thing wrong with him. He was small though. None of his clothes fit. A couple of days after he was born I went with my mom to the DI and scoured the racks for preemie sized clothing. I found a couple of outfits,…

Motherhood

Motherhood

We generally keep this blog light and about fairly non-important things since a) I’m not always good at being serious and b) I’m attempting to be witty, but I’ve had something on my mind for awhile. I wasn’t one of those girls that wanted to get married and be a mom since the age of five. I wanted to be someone important. An astronaut, the first female president, a lawyer. I figured motherhood was for those that didn’t have real…

The People Have Spoken

The People Have Spoken

Occasionally we like to check our site stats just to see if anybody actually reads our blog. We discovered something. That large spike was when I posted “Baby Pictures.” Okay, we get it. You just want to see the baby. Note: This post was technically written by Audrey, but Noel came up with the idea, so it’s his intellectual property.

On your mark, get set . . .

On your mark, get set . . .

I got cleared to exercise last week, but this morning was the first day that I hit the pavement. I know some people just don’t get it, but I LOVE running. It makes me feel good and keeps me sane. Giving up running halfway through my pregnancy was hard (admittedly continuing would have been harder and more disastrous). Even though I only went a mile and was so S L O W, it’s nice to be out there again. Also…

Baby Blessing

Baby Blessing

We blessed Cooper almost two weeks ago, but I kept forgetting to get pictures from my mom until now. He was the perfect baby, he didn’t even grunt (our child is generally quite vocal). Thankfully Noel’s parents were able to attend as well as most of our families and some good friends. It was nice to have everyone there for such a special occasion. Still, one of my favorite parts of the whole event was some of the petrified looks…

“No More Happiness”

“No More Happiness”

I am an avid consumer of dairy. I love it: Cheese, milk, ice cream, yogurt, butter, you name it. Essentially, dairy makes food taste good. Lately though I’m wondering if my love of dairy has become a problem. I have a baby that is constantly gassy (sometimes it makes him cry). Noel and I have done extensive research (thank you Google – the source of all wisdom and knowledge), but nothing we’ve tried yet has seemed to make any sort…

D-Day

D-Day

Yesterday was my due date. My child is almost a month old. So glad I’m not still pregnant. Cooper thinks being wide awake at 3am is the best. He doesn’t cry, but just acts ready to play. If I weren’t so tired, it might be cute.
