Kitchen and Dining

Kitchen and Dining

We worked hard over the weekend and almost everything has a place now. Hopefully in the next couple of days I’ll be able to wrap this tour up and blog about something else. (I always feel a little weird taking pictures of all my worldly possessions and posting them. It basically feels like I’m saying, “Hey, I’m pretty neat; look what I have.”) Today I bring you the kitchen and dining room. We have some big plans for these rooms…

The “Do” Room

The “Do” Room

When we were in DC we had cable and I was slightly addicted to HGTV. This year HGTV was having a sweepstakes for a  green house in Stapleton, CO (a do-able commute to Noel’s job). The house was both green and gorgeous and Noel and I religiously entered the sweepstakes twice daily up until the day we were officially under contract on our home. One of my favorite features of the house was the “Do” room. Someday I hope to…

The Master

The Master

We’ve got a long list of things we want to do with some of our rooms, so I think I’m going to take you on a tour room by room as things get done. Generally our bedroom is the last thing we seem to focus on, but this time it was the first. Before we even started looking at houses I found a tutorial for some Anthropologie inspired bedding. Truth be told, I’ve never even set foot inside an Anthropologie…

Where the Wild Things Are: 5 Things

Where the Wild Things Are: 5 Things

1. This was one of my favorite books as a child. My dad read it with such enthusiasm. 2. The movie is okay. Definitely a lot of extrapolation. 3. When I was pregnant I really wanted to make a sign for Cooper’s bedroom that said, “Let the Wild Rumpus Begin!” but some people told me that would be asking for it. Well, I decided not to listen. 4. The book is on the list of banned books. (Because what child…

Now Accepting Reservations

Our Guest Room/Office/Gym/Sewing Room is now complete. We opted for a luxurious, and I really do mean luxurious, queen sized futon (a brand new 8 inch loft microfiber covered mattress with a steal of a deal, craigslist find frame). Don’t be deceived by the fact that it’s a futon, one of the mattress reviewers said the only way his wife with fibromyalgia could get a good night’s rest was by sleeping on it. Very comfy. The thing is begging to…

The Grand Tour

The Grand Tour

Our house is finally ready for the long awaited grand tour. (Getting it to this state has been at least long awaited by me.) Come on in and let me show you around. If you need to take your shoes off, please feel free to sit on our antique church pew (my 16th birthday gift; At the time I was so disappointed that it wasn’t a car.) and store your shoes in our handy cubbies. Then have a seat on…

Jope

Jope

My little sister (okay, she’s no longer little, but still younger) got hitched this past week. We all flew back to Utah for the occasion. Cooper was the perfect baby on the plane. Slept during take-off and smiled every time the plane descended during landing. The Scentsy saleslady sitting next to me (A big Scentsy convention had just ended in Denver; needless to say our plane smelled good and I now have a catalog if anyone wants to order something)…

Home Improvement

Home Improvement

When I was a child I spent a lot of time at Ernst with my parents while they shopped for the constant remodel they were doing on our house. At first I didn’t mind since they had free bags of popcorn for kids and I enjoyed playing in the display kitchens. However, over the years of repeated hostage situations, I developed a deep loathing for home improvement stores. Lately, Noel and I have spent more and more time wandering through…
