6th Anniversary Trip

6th Anniversary Trip

In the “early days” of our marriage, we always went on a trip for our anniversary. Our Spring Break wedding and our continuing student status aligned our first several anniversaries to fall within close proximity of Spring Break, so a trip was always in order. Once we graduated, there was always a baby to nurse so we had to take a two year hiatus, but now that both those babies are weaned (Don’t worry, Cooper much sooner than Ellen) we…

Going Coastal

Going Coastal

Last December, my parents made a reservation for the entire family to stay in a beach house on the Oregon Coast this August. During the last months of pregnancy I would think about going to Oregon and how it would be so nice to no longer have a baby inside of me and how that baby would be big enough to be interesting. (Yes, the truth comes out. While I loved both my babies from the start, I’m not head-over-heels…

Camping with Children: Trial and Error, Mostly Error

Camping with Children: Trial and Error, Mostly Error

Sometimes when people find out we go camping with a two year old and a four month old they’re a little shocked. Reactions range from admiration to wondering if a call to child protective services is in order. Fortunately nobody has done the latter…yet. Nevertheless, Audrey and I love being outdoors so even though we don’t make it out as much as we used to, we have gone camping several times with the kids. We just got back from an…

Vegas Visit

Vegas Visit

We made this last weekend a long one and took a short trip to Las Vegas to visit some of Noel’s family. We had a great time visiting with family and being recipients of their superb hospitality. Everyone of course loved having Cooper around and didn’t want him to leave. It was good for Cooper to spend some time with his namesake (Noel’s grandpa “Tick” Cooper). But, unfortunately he seemed more interested in playing with grandpa’s “toys” than snuggling up…

Utah Trip

Utah Trip

We found a killer deal on flights to Utah and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to visit family. I’m not very good at photo documentation (maybe you’ve noticed), but here are a few pics for your viewing pleasure. Among the undocumented adventures: a riveting high school cross-country meet, guest appearance in a high school English classroom, windy picnic with my good friend Emily, nostalgic visit to USU’s campus, and a free John Schmidt concert that was part of the Peach…

Feeling Hot, Hot, Hot!

Feeling Hot, Hot, Hot!

Back in January we pretty much planned all our family vacations for the month of June – a vacation to Alaska to see Noel’s parents and a camping trip to Southern Utah to rendezvous with my family. The hard thing about planning trips in January (other than not being able to foresee that you will buy a house the same month you plan your vacations) is that heat sounds like a good idea. Well, last Friday when we were packing…

Finding Normal

Finding Normal

Hello, again. It’s been awhile hasn’t it? It’s been a crazy couple of weeks. First there was all the moving, packing, and cleaning while Cooper protested from his pack-n-play. (It didn’t help that he cut three teeth that week.) Then there was a start at all the cleaning and unpacking which was interrupted by a week long trip to Alaska to visit Noel’s parents. It literally feels like we’ve been running for two weeks straight. An hour before we left…

Perhaps We Shall Permanently Go On Vacation

Perhaps We Shall Permanently Go On Vacation

We met up in the heartland (AKA Vernal, UT) with a couple of Noel’s high school buddies over the weekend. Despite a long car ride and weather that wasn’t the most hospitable for the night we camped, we had a really good time. Cooper slept better than he does at home both nights, which was extremely nice, albeit a tad bit perplexing.  We’re considering setting up our tent in the backyard with the pack-n-play as Cooper’s new permanent bedroom. The…

Posers

Posers

Some of you know and others of you might have guessed, but we haven’t been in Colorado for the past month. We’ve been in DC while Noel worked on a month-long assignment for one of the parent organizations of his company. For a month we’ve been posing as a young, hip couple living in a happening apartment in Georgetown. We’ve adapted the local ways of scoffing at escalefters and avoiding the Smithsonian Metro station on weekends. We’ve waited in more…

Dearth of Blogging

Dearth of Blogging

The best indication that something exciting is actually happening in our lives is our disappearance from the internet. Sad, but true. Let me briefly summarize the past two weeks. We journeyed to Utah via car, bus, train, and plane. Cooper received so many Christmas gifts that we had to increase our luggage by two bags on the way home. We cautiously braved the snowy roads with only one significant mishap. We visited many of our friends and loved ones and…
