Annie and Greg Came to Town

Annie and Greg Came to Town

Noel is pretty much the same age as all of his cousins and they’ve always been fairly close, even with him being the odd  man out. (Pun intended; they’re all girls.) It’s been fun for me to be adopted into this group since my cousins and I have a much larger age difference. Last week, Annie and her fiancé, Greg, stayed with us for a few days and we also got Jaimie and her husband, Wolfgang, who are now Denverites to…

A Few Gems of the Kids

A Few Gems of the Kids

My mom takes amazing photos. She’s beautifully documented so many important events in my life from my wedding to graduating from college to bringing home my babies.  Pretty sure I’ve been the recipient of thousands of dollars worth of free professional photography over the years. Every time we visit I usually get some awesome pictures of the kids.  Here are some gems from out most recent trip to Utah.

Maroon Bells

Maroon Bells

Two years ago we went camping at Maroon Bells.  It was an enjoyable experience and we’ve been wanting to go back ever since. Campsites at Maroon Bells itself are pretty hard to come by, especially on weekends, so I had a reminder in my google calendar to make a reservation the second the sites opened up for our chosen days. Months ago that Google reminder popped up and I made a reservation hoping for a nice calm getaway, completely unaware…

4th of July

4th of July

When we moved to Colorado four years ago we didn’t fall into the category of people that are devastated to leave “Zion.”  I can honestly say that Colorado is “home” and that I love living here, but that doesn’t stop me from feeling a little homesick for Utah every now and again. With the birth of my first nephew I was especially missing many of the things in Utah that are near and dear to my heart, so we decided to…

Competition

Competition

It seems my kids now have some competition for favorite grandkid, so I knew a post about my kids was in order to remind everyone who really has the best kids. Alright, so their cousin is pretty dang adorable and I am as smitten as anyone (and dying to meet him)! We’ll let him be the favorite grandkid for now . . . Still, an update is in order. We’ve had a lot of rain this spring which has been awesome for…

Sayonara April!

Sayonara April!

Oh, April. You were not my favorite month this year. You were full of promise with the arrival of spring, the celebration of a few of our favorite holidays, and two anticipated visits from family. But the plague of sickness you sent our way left us barely able to enjoy many of those things. I did not enjoy how at least one person in our house was ill at any given time. Cooper had 50% attendance at preschool, we went…

Grandma Glenna Came To Visit

Grandma Glenna Came To Visit

Noel’s mom has spent the last several months in Utah helping with our brother-in-law, Chris, as he’s been recovering from his near fatal run-in with the flu. Now that he’s doing much better, Glenna decided it was time to head back to Alaska, but made a stop in Colorado to spend some time with the grandkids. The kids really enjoyed having grandma around to repeatedly hide plastic eggs, read books, and give them unlimited snuggles. We were glad we she was…

Uncle Mitchell Came to Visit

Uncle Mitchell Came to Visit

My brother, Mitchell, came to visit us last weekend. The kids love Uncle Mitchell, which is a good thing since he was almost like their surrogate parent the four days he was here. Mitchell watched them while we went to a class, hauled them around when we went snowshoeing, entertained them while we made dinner, helped load them in and out of cars, pushed them around in a heavy laden Costco cart, and also helped me decorate and buy groceries…

Snowshoeing

Snowshoeing

Prepare yourselves for cuteness. Apparently they make snowshoes for little people. We made a day of it on Presidents Day heading up into the mountains by Winter Park. It was a beautiful sunny day with almost no wind, which is a rare thing these days. Ellen wasn’t so sure about being in the cold snow, but we made her come along in the backpack anyway. Cooper did great out there and got the hang of the snowshoes in no time….

Ice Castles

Ice Castles

Originally, we were going to take my mom to see the Ice Castles on a quiet Tuesday for her birthday, but then life happened and plans changed. Instead, we ended up going to see the Ice Castles on a busy Saturday with just our little family. We generally avoid ski towns during the winter (especially since skiing hasn’t been in the cards for years now), but we were intent on having fun as a family no matter what. So even when it…
